R&D Scientist (Laboratory)

You will join the laboratory team as an R&D scientist and work alongside bioinformaticians and computer scientists to design, build, and apply state-of-the-art tools for protein engineering. You will also take part in generating new product ideas and driving them through the development and commercialization process.
Responsibilities
- Participating in brainstorms for new product and application ideas, performing feasibility studies, generating experimental data for patent applications and marketing purposes
- Producing and characterizing wild type and designed proteins
- Suggesting and developing analytical assays for protein characterization
- Developing and optimizing medium and high throughput workflows for protein expression and characterization
- Keeping detailed and accurate records of all lab work
- Analyzing, preparing and presenting data to the team and other stakeholders
Must-have
- Master's degree or PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology or related field
- Ability to plan and execute biochemistry / molecular biology experiments with minimal supervision
- Experience with recombinant protein expression and purification
- Experience with molecular cloning and mutagenesis techniques
- Analytical thinking and problem solving abilities
- Intrinsic motivation, accountability, and a commitment to professional development
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills
Nice-to-have
- 2+ years of industrial experience
- Ability to independently drive R&D projects through ideation, planning, execution and IP protection
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in enzyme kinetics, with a track record in developing enzymatic assays
- Experience with analytical HPLC/MS
- Experience with lab automation
- Familiarity with AKTA chromatography systems and a track record in developing protein purification protocols (ion exchange, gel filtration)
- Experience with recombinant protein production in Aspergillus spp., Bacillus spp. or P. pastoris
